Tell me about the role
Data science is at the heart of Bud. Your ability to use cutting edge data science techniques will be fundamental in developing novel ways to help users make the most of their money. You’ll be part of a team fast becoming industry leaders in how banking data is used to give financial insights, opening up new opportunities to disrupt the industry.
The data enrichment team is responsible for making the Bud platform intelligent. We design and build models that uncover new insights for users about their finances and make new user journeys possible. For example, we are building a way for people to use their rent to build their credit score, powered by machine learning models that identify and validate rental payments.
Show me the tools!
We use the best tool for the job and love keeping up-to-date with the latest technologies. Thanks to our microservice based architecture, we can be language agnostic. Nobody likes legacy. When we say greenfield, we mean it.
The data team work predominantly with Python so love for this language is a must. We use different types of models, using everything from traditional machine learning to deep learning. As a platform that serves the entire financial ecosystem, we have a unique data set that spans a huge variety of verticals - from banking & credit cards to pension providers and investment products. It’ll be up to you to make the best possible use of this data, using the best possible tools!

Bud is an early stage business, but we’re growing fast. 2018 saw the team expand from 17 to 70 (yes, really) - and the pace is only picking up. Alongside this, we’ve won some notable awards, and work closely with HSBC to ensure our tech gets out there.

Flexible working hours
Our core hours are 9:30 am to 6 pm. However, as part of our high-performance team, you'll benefit from the flexibility to manage your own day optimising the way you work so you can be at your best.
We’re big on keeping Bud a social team, so Christmas and Summer parties can be a big deal. We also put on quarterly events and have a social committee organising things like sports events, music gigs and after-work meet-ups!
Bud’s new office is a newly renovated space, specifically designed to our needs. Cool interior, breakout spaces, professional meeting rooms, brand new kitchen, loads of bike storage and a shower room for our part-time athletes. As our office is in The Bower WeWork there are also tons of events, not to mention, beverages on tap.
